Volkswagen golf radio reset

Hello, hoping this is something a tech would know. I just bought a 2007 Jetta. I love it so far. One problem, I cannot get the AUX input in the glove compartment to work. I read one post that said something similar happened to their Audi and they pressed three buttons at the same time to do a hard reset on the radio. He held down the top two buttons on the left + the power button. I tried this but it didn't work for me. I've done a ton of searches and posted on a different board as well but no one seems to know how to do this on a 2007 Jetta with the stock radio. It looks like the one on this page http://enfigcarstereoshopsite_s. IP_853689.html

Any ideas what the right combo of buttons that I need to press to reset the stereo?

If your 2007 has BLACK volume knobs then the radio is incorrect for the car and will not play the aux. If the radio has SILVER volume knobs then it should work. if it has silver knobs then the radio control module coding is incorrect. However, when the radio fails internally the module coding usually gets erased and the only way to resolve this is to replace the radio.

Have someone with "vagcom (aka vcds)" scan your radio and see if any fault codes are present.

It does have the silver knobs. Is there a way to change the radio coding? I do have a friend with vagcom. He looked at the car today and there was a code but he was unable to clear it. Are there instructions that you could provide me? If so I can have him follow them to get it resolved. Everything else on the radio works properly, the CD player, AM, FM. I don't have a subscription to Satellite but when I pressed the button it seems to start up and says to call Sirius. I hope that I don't have to replace the entire unit just to get the AUX back online.

So am I chasing a ghost with the idea of trying to do a three button hard reset on it then?

There is no "reset." If you have a code in the RADIO that will not clear then you need to replace the unit. If the code that won't clear is in "digital radio tuner" then that is the sirius module and will go away when you subscribe to sirius.

If the radio has NO faults then have your vag com buddy change the radio coding to "40401" to activate the aux port. After that you push CD twice and it goes to aux. Of course, you do know you NEED to push CD two times before the aux will work, right?

Yes, I have read the forums and have been pushing the CD button twice. Thanks again. I really appreciate the help!
